I don't want to block portals in the non-Creative levels. In a Nutshell: To make a nether portal you will need 14 obsidian to build the frame. The base of the nether portal should be 4 obsidian wide, and the sides of the nether portal should be 5 obsidian high. This design will use 14 blocks of obsidian. Next, you need to activate the Nether Portal which can be accomplished by using flint and steel on Easy steps: Get coordinates of new overworld portal and divide by eight. Go in nether and build new portal at those coords. Dont forgot negatives. Close old nether portal, do not totally destroy it though. Go through new nether portal and close, relight, and go through new overworld portal. Go relight old nether portal and then repeat last step 3) Foxel's nether portal tower.
